Since UCO is a public university, why is there a need for private gifts?

0

Contrary to what many may think, funds from the State of Oklahoma make up less than half of UCO’s annual operating budget. Support from alumni, community members, corporations and outside foundations is critical to the advancement of the educational experience at UCO. These gifts allow UCO to attract faculty who are among the best in their field, provide scholarships for our growing student population, build new facilities and improve existing ones, fund unique learning opportunities outside the classroom and more. The opportunities at UCO are as limitless as the ideas of our students, faculty and staff and the unwavering support of our friends.
