Answer I need more information. I would need to know exact sizes of the rooms,ceiling heights, finishes and the type of fixtures you want to use. Also I would need to know if the existing A/C system would be sufficient to cool the additional space. There will be additional impact fees charged by your local county. Depending on the age of the home, you may have to completely upgrade your entire electrical system to meet todays codes under new code requirements. You probably cannot add a 2nd story bedroom unless you make the existing footers bigger under the existing structure and completely redo the roof trussing, roof, and floor joists. It would be quite expensive and the fees and codes mentioned above would apply. To get a true estimate, you need to go to an architect to have as built plans and a remodel plan done.
