Since planarians are scavengers and carnivores, what kind of food would they eat?
Carnivores eat other animals, while scavengers feed on animals that are already dead. This means that planarians can kill their prey or feed on animals that are already dead. In nature, planarians eat tubifex worms, earthworms and other segmented worms and dead fish. They may only eat slugs that have been opened first. The larvae also eat gastropod molluscs. I should imagine that a planarian would eat various types of animals, living or dead, if it can capture the food.
