Since last year, has the Marine Corps considered contracting out its OCONUS foodservice operations?
SANABRIA: There are no plans to contract OCONUS foodservice operations at this time. • GFS: Have any new training opportunities for Marine Corps culinary specialists been added recently? What routes are available for Marines to improve their culinary skills these days? SANABRIA: Although we have not initiated any new training, in the past year, the Marine Corps Food Service School has held several Course Content Review Boards for our formal schools courses at Fort Lee, Va., as a continuing effort to improve and update training for our Marines. Those courses affected were our entry-level management course, the Noncommissioned Officer Food Service Course, mid-level course, the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Food Service Course and our executive-level course, the Seniors Course. We also continue to work with the Continuing Education Department of the Culinary Institute of America to provide some of our foodservice Marines an opportunity to achieve Pro Chef Level 1 certification.
