Since Fish left Marillion around the same time that Charlie was fired, did Dream Theater ever consider asking him to be their lead singer?
MP: Actually a bit of trivia, our *last* show with Charlie was opening for Marillion’s *first* US show with Steve Hogarth. By time we began looking for another new singer, Fish was already into his solo career and we never considered that he would be interested in anything but that. Not to mention that we weren’t that well known yet at that point and we never thought that he would consider a young, upcoming band from America to be his next career move! Even if he did, I don’t think a 6’6″ Scottish poet was what we were looking for at the time!
