since burning religious books is front page story worthy now, where was the international outrage over this?
Presumably, the Bibles belong to the Pentagon, so they are free to burn them. It seems worth noting, however, that they are burning these Bibles with the specific intent of keeping others from reading them — from being exposed to the ideas contained in them — as opposed to burning books as a form of protest. I can’t say I’m proud that my government is engaged in this kind of censorship and its attendant fear of ideas which might conflict with one’s world view. It’s a nasty business, suggesting that “some ideas” are just too darn dangerous for people to be exposed to.
