Free Comic Book Day takes place May 5 every year. Comic book publisher send free promotional comic book issues and other promotional material to participating comic book stores where anyone can walk in and take whichever comics that interest them. Some stores will limit the number of comics you can take and an unscrupulous one might tell you that you need to buy something for them to give you the FCBD comics, but usually there are no strings attached.
