By Saul Hansell If Google started charging to upload non-commercial videos to YouTube, it would improve the site’s economics. But the arguments against such a move are powerful. Charging for YouTube uploads would destroy the essence of the YouTube brand. And it would damage the Google brand with customers, advertisers, investors and the technology community.
