Should You Offer a Free E-Book Online Or Sell it to Make Money?
Many folks who write eBooks do so for informational marketing purposes, as it is a way to establish themselves as experts and promote their businesses online. But what if they are consultants? At some point they have to get paid for their knowledge, so others decide to sell their eBooks online and refuse to give the knowledge away. Recently, someone had asked me to co-author an eBook which they would then sell to their customers, and I balked at first because, I would not wish to sell it is, as I would like to post it at my Online Think Tank site in the reading room and add it to my free-online eBooks, but I can also change the title and give my version away, slightly modify it, change the pictures, color back ground, etc. While the co-author could sell it for whatever they wished. When asked what he might charge for this eBook, I thought something just under $20.00 but why?
