Should women be allowed to play on Major League Baseball teams?
Arguments on both sides of this issue raise valid points, but I believe the whole debate boils down to one salient question: Can she compete? It is generally true that men are larger, faster and stronger than women, but there are exceptions to this rule. To determine whether or not a woman should be permitted on a Major League Baseball team, the most important question ought to be is she good enough? If the answer is no, there is nothing more to discuss. If the answer is yes, then it’s time to address issues of novelty, separate locker facilities, male player perceptions, and all the other complications that are bound to accompany this kind of breakthrough. Size, strength, and speed are useful in baseball, but they are not the only attributes important to the game.
