Should Whales & Dolphins Be Kept In Captivity?
Should Whales & Dolphins Be Kept In Captivity? Wednesday October 6, 2010 Recent incidents involving killer whales at SeaWorld, including several orca deaths and the death of a whale trainer, have caused some to rethink their positions on whales in captivity. On one hand, whales in captivity may provide a unique research opportunity and allow the public to interact with whales up close, possibly fostering a greater appreciation for marine life. On the other, whales are beings that can think and feel, and perhaps a captive environment is not worth the risks to the health of individual whales (or those who work with them). How do you feel about whales in captivity? I’d love to hear your opinions, and you can share them via my new response page. I look forward to reading your responses
