Should West Virginia really have set up a number of emergency shelters?

0

The snow storm pounding the southern coal fields is causing closed roads and power outages. A major snow storm slammed southern West Virginia with anywhere from 18 to 24 inches of snow. Emergency dispatch centers in every county are cautioning drivers to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Department of Highways snow plows have been working all night, but roads remain snow-covered and very treacherous. Several school children from Daniels Elementary who were stuck on buses during the height of the storm last night have been taken to shelters in Beaver. The heavy snow is blamed for sporadic power outages around the region. Shelters have been set up in the following counties: FAYETTE COUNTY Lewis Community Center on Central Avenue in Oak Hill Oak Hill High School Pax Fire Department GREENBRIER COUNTY Rhema Christian Church in Fairlea McDOWELL COUNTY No shelters yet MERCER COUNTY Salvation Army in Princeton MONROE COUNTY Union Fire Department, if needed RALEIGH COUNTY Beckley
