Should we use “80B FA” or “bytestream” format for firmware download files?
On pre-6.5 MPE/iX (SYSDIAG/Sherlock) systems, the diagnostics expect files to be in traditional MPE format; in the case of the FWSCSI 3944 version firmware download file, this would be an 80B FA file. On MPE/iX 6.5 and later (CSTM/MESA) systems, there are two types of diagnostics: • Diagnostics ported from the SYSDIAG/Sherlock environment, with a wrapper so they can run under the CSTM/MESA environment • Diagnostics native to the CSTM/MESA environment. A list of both types can be found on the Web page “STM Replacement Tools for SYSDIAG” at http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/diag/stm/stm_mpe_rep.htm Tools native to CSTM/MESA are in the “Replaced Tools” list; tools ported from SYSDIAG/Sherlock are in the “Converted Tools” list. In the 6.5 and later CSTM/MESA environment, diagnostics which were ported from the SYSDIAG/Sherlock environment expect the files to be in the traditional MPE format. The native diagnostics expect the files to be in bytestream format (after all, these native diagnos
