I think that before deciding on what to do about Korea (embargo or not) we need to choose a uniform method of “dealing” with Communist, Socialist, Marxist countries. We’re rolling out the red carpets for China, while alienating Cuba which is right in our front yard…and let’s not forget the lil violation of human rights going on in Guantanamo… Embargos hurt the poor and in a communist country, will those voices really be heard, let alone make a government changing impact? If thousands of people starve to death, their government will only pin the blame on the “Capitalist Pigs in the West.” The best way to combat Communism/Socialism etc. is to be more open, American culture is ingrained with Democracy and core human rights/freedoms. Let North Koreans enjoy the trivial things like Gap vs. Gucci…trust me the teens will demand their rights once they are given a wider range of options.
