I reject the staeTment that “Gun laws only affect law-abiding citizens”. You can’t legally sell a gun to a felon, so the the staement is false. Other than criminals, the mentally unstabel are not allowed to buy guns – perhaps they are law abiding citizens, but you wouldn’t want a paranoid personality packing heat. Many people go from law abiding to criminal due to illicit use of a gun they own legal, e.g., domestic disputes. In spite of laws to the contrary, even law abiding citizens turn outlaw by buying guns and reselling them to criminals. And many gun shop owners in more remote areas routinely violate gun laws by fudging paperwork, because of some sense that everyone has a right to a weapon. all the laws in the country have failed to keep the guns from the hands of criminals, failed to prevent accidental shootings, failed to prevent straw buyers.
