We strongly recommend that CPAs begin switching participants from the 23.2 oz. size of Similac Advance formula to the 12.9 oz. size at their next scheduled pick up. Now that the 12.9 oz. standard Similac Advance formula has been replaced by the 12.9 oz. Similac Advance Earlyshield on store shelves, there is no compelling reason to continue issuing the 23.2 oz. size containers. Minimum stock requirements for WIC vendors specify only the 12.9 oz. size containers. So there should be no problem with store availability of the 12.9 oz. size formula. Our experience has shown that the only stores that have routinely stocked the 23.2 oz. size Similac Advance formula are the large superstores, like Target and Wal-Mart. Availability of the 23.2 oz. formula at other stores has been more problematic.
