Should we budget for .5% cut in charter school General Purpose and Categorical block grants for 2007-08?
Question: At the Governor’s Budget Workshop, they said to plan for a .5% cut in the Revenue Limit for 2007-08. What about for charter schools, should we also budget for a .5% cut in the General Purpose Block Grant and Categorical Block Grant for 2007-08 Response: Since the charter school general purpose block grants are based on statewide average funded revenue limits per ADA, then yes, the .5% potential deficit for revenue limits in 2007-08 would also apply to charter schools block grant funding. But the potential 2007-08 .5% deficit would not apply to the charter school categorical rate.
