Should violent video games be illegal and why?
No, I don’t think so, and I disagree with the person who said that “it’s been proven” to cause violence in children who play them. It actually has not been proven and many studies show the opposite effect — that it calms them down. Those studies feel that the child is able to take out their negative, destructive feelings on the game instead of trying to take them out on others in real life. Not that I recommend buying violent video games for young children, I don’t — but I also don’t agree that it’s “proven” that it causes violence in kids. Personally, I feel that the kids who go out and perform violent acts against others in real life are kids who come from homes where the parents do not pay any attention to these kids and the kids therefore are not able to turn to any adult for help in dealing with issues such as anger, hurt, etc. I feel that a child who comes from a loving home where their parents pay attention to them, talk to them, LISTEN to them, do fun things with them, etc. a
