Should UW-Milwaukee Build its new engineering school in Wauwatosa or Downtown?
What are your thoughts on this issue? The University Of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is planning to build a graduate research extension in engineering in one of our ‘burbs on pristine park land in a “research park” that has all the usual poor design and environmental traits of sprawl. UWMDowntown.org is a grassroots urbanist effort proposing downtown locations for the engineering school and arguing for the superior merits of a downtown site. You can learn more at www.uwmdowntown.org, find links to media coverage of the issue, and read their white paper here: http://www.riverwestneighborhood.org/media/UWM%20Downtown.pdf You may also watch a UWM Downtown presentation and discussion video here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/glue-milwaukee This recorded took place at MSOE last night at the local Great Lakes Urban Exchange (GLUE) meeting. (www.gluespace.org) It was streamed with live chat for GLUE participants in St. Louis and archived for other GLUE city groups that are meeting on Thursday.
