Should USF (University of South Florida) consider changing its name?

0

Do NOT change the name! The University of South Florida has three satellite campuses: USF St. Petersburg , USF Sarasota-Manatee, and USF Lakeland. There is also a downtown center in downtown Tampa. There was even once a fourth satellite campus, in Fort Myers that was in operation from 1974 until 1997 when campus operations were usurped into the new Florida Gulf Coast University. The University of South Florida is the largest university in land mass in Florida. It’s ranked as the NINTH LARGEST UNIVERSITY by ENROLLMENT in the United States! USF is also considered among top research universities in the United States. And you want to now change its name because its football team is now ranked in the nation’s Top Five? Those holding USF degrees for their ACADEMIC studies & research would be outraged to have the prestige in their degree institution name changed! True, USF is not on the southernmost point of Florida (that would be Key West), but it is not a university limited to just one city
