Should UK companies be doing more to align their facilities strategy with business goals?

Yes, I think all too often facilities are seen as a fixed element within the plans of many businesses. Their ability to manage i.e. divest or develop, is often not widely understood or appreciated at board level and certainly the impact that facility changes can have on the behaviour of an organisation and its perception by its stakeholders. In a modern environment where “change management”, “corporate image” and “motivation” are often on the agenda the huge lever that facilities can provide is used only sparingly at best. Yes facilities strategy should be more aligned with business goals but not necessarily through such direct links as size or cost, but also in relation to goals of motivation and productivity gain.
