Should TTC Special Constables Have Tasers? Monday July 7, 2008 My only dealings with the TTC Special Constables was an embarrassing incident when, as a student, I approached a plainclothes constable with a charity donation request. He calmly told me who he was and that soliciting donations on TTC property was prohibited, even if we did have a letter from the mayor allowing us to campaign on city property. Lucky for me, he didn’t feel a need to take it any further than a stern but bemused warning. This past week Inside Toronto reported that the TTC had a study done on the idea of giving special constables tasers or firearms in addition to the baton, pepper spray and handcuffs they currently carry.
