My LFS rep has told me that plants would not survive in this hard, high-PH environment and that the refugium concept for a Cichlid tank won’t do any good. Obviously, were I to incorporate a refugium, all of the plants would (from what I’ve read) warrant extra care to ensure continued, adequate oxygenation of the water for the fish. With circulation rate of 8-10 times per hour and use of air stone bubbler in tank I am hoping that I’d be OK. Any advice, comment you might offer would be very much appreciated.
