Should they make an actual movie based on the 2005 Houston Astros?
No one’s ever made a movie about the 1914 Braves (although it would make a better story than the Astros movie, for various reasons) They’ve never even made a movie about the ’69 Mets. The 1914 Braves were in last place (8 team league) on July 18th, eleven games out of first. Their record at that time was 35-43. They won the NL pennant by 10 and 1/2 games, going 60-16 for the rest of the season. And in the World Series, they defeated Connie Mack’s Philadelphia A’s in a four game sweep, after the A’s had won the World Series in 1910, 1911 and 1913. That Braves team was a combination of young, unproven players and rookies, together with veterans that no one else wanted. You’re right about the fact that the heroes don’t have to win in the end for it to be a good movie. The original “Bad News Bears” was a good movie, even though they didn’t win it all.
