I do think so. If there is no salary cap then few teams will buy the best of the lot under their belt and other teams will not have such privilege to select and make the teams evenly balanced. Without salary cap, then the games will be one-sided affairs and hence if one looks at the US sports like NBA, MLB, NFL and other – all of them have a salary cap to make teams evenly balanced. Since IPL is in its first year and it is good to see that they have incorporated the Salary Cap on the team rather than on an individual player and it is the right way to do so.
