Should the voting age be lowered from 18 why or why not?

18 is too young! I think voting age should be highered to at least 23, when college kids finish school , live in the real world and use their own judgment more rather than she said he said- Im voting for who my parents like etc. too immature at that age- I know I was! I voted for ROSS Perot for crying out loud I had no CLUE who was best for the country that young!

No. Because the typical teenager is not highly involved in politics nor have they had the opportunity to live real life with true Independence away from their parents. After people get out of school, get a job and start paying the bills do they finally realize what an impact Washington has on them directly. But it isn’t until that point that they start paying their own bills that they realize this because the impact is absorbed by their parents. I am not saying the teens can’t understand it I just don’t think most know they have to or that they want to. Another thing is that the state doesn’t see a person as an adult until they are 18 and if you are in school they don’t even see you as an independent until you are 24.

Under 18 most people have not graduated from high school yet, and do not have enough knowledge to evaluate all of the issues.

Should not be lowered, it’s called responsibility. Most 18 years olds are unsure of where they are headed and what they want. Got to live life some before you know what needs to be done. I think voting age should be raised to 21.

No, if anything it should be raised to 25, people should have some kind of life experience, not a kid in school that has no idea what its like to have to pay rent or utilities or put food on the table. A friend of mine that makes over $250,000 a year has 2 boys that are in college and were all for Obama and his tax increase against those making over 250k until their dad told them if Obama is elected they will both have to go to work and pay for their own cars and insurance and no more allowance…they are both voting for McCain now.
