Should the state of Nebraksa revise its “safe haven” law?

0

Since it’s inception, almost 4 months to date, Nebraska officials are meeting once again to review its State’s “safe haven” law in the wake of its deeply troublesome response. Since July, a total of 34 children have been surrendered to state hospital’s or law enforcement agencies, and several of these surrendered children were driven across state lines to be left to the care of Nebraska’s Department of Health and Human Services. The truth and tragedy of what has been brought to light since Nebraska’s enactment of the law have officials scurrying to close the gaps, tighten the language and usher away responsibilities it simply does not want to incur- a barrage of children, teenagers and young adults whose caretakers simply cannot or do not want to care for their children anymore.
