Should the port be buying property and developing projects outside of Pierce County?
In the same way that air or water quality have no political or geographic boundaries, the movement of freight is a regional issue that requires regional solutions. Ports that work together are best able to serve the needs of communities in solving transportation congestion problems. American consumers are driving the growth of trade. Collaboration between ports is essential. What issues should the port prioritize in the next few years? I believe the Ports top priority is responsible growth. That is growth that serves our community by increasing jobs, guaranteeing environmental health, and solving transportation infrastructure problems. We are a world class port and the leadership that we have taken on many issues ensures our ability to enhance the future of our community.
