Should the NPHC undergraduate council be a subordinate group or committee within previously established Greek-letter governing bodies?

In order for NPHC undergraduate councils to have a positive effect on a college/university’s campus and to constructively interact with other Greek-letter bodies, it is vital that the council be autonomous and have the same rights and privileges afforded the other bodies. This means that the NPHC formed on a campus should not be a subordinate body or committee of another body but rather a laterally structured administrative body. It is also important that the campus NPHC obtains a faculty or staff member to serve as an advisor. It is strongly recommended that the campus “advisor” be a member of one of the NPHC affiliate organizations, if possible, or at least someone familiar with the goals and objectives of the NPHC, its strong cultural foundation, ideals, and bond. The formation of a council is encouraged as a means to develop and achieve a basis for mutual understanding and appreciation in all aspects of campus life and its activities.
