I personally believe that Canada should get more teams. However it would be stupid (no offense) to even try to put big league hockey in these areas. Let’s go through the cities one by one shall we? First I’m going to disregard Moose Jaw, PEI, St. Johns, Thunder Bay, Cole Harbour, New Brunswick, and the Yukon because of population. So that leaves Halifax, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Saskaton, and you forgot Quebec City. Halifax is in no shape currently to host an NHL club. The maritime economy has been taking hits even before the recession as its much dependent on fishing. It’s lack of corporate sponsorship and the fact that although its got a bigger population then the cities names I threw out, its population is still too small. Quebec City is an interesting one. They apparently have applied for an expansion franchise however I can’t see anything coming from it. Quebec City is a VERY small market.
