Should the NFL add cruelty to animals to their personal conduct policy?
Football, a hugely popular sport in the United States, is physically violent and attracts players who seem to have no problem with injuring each other if it means winning the game. This propensity for physical aggression can all too easily extend from the football field to helpless animals. It is well known by law enforcement that people who are guilty of domestic violence in their family lives or violence towards their fellow humans in general often have a history of violence towards nonhuman animals. So it seems a no-brainer to me that professional football players be encouraged by the NFL to act as good role models for kids by requiring them to adopt a personal conduct policy never to abuse animals.
