Should the judge reduce the punishment?
Reminds me of a similar incidence when i was in the Navy in 1958 in New Jersey. A sailor met this girl at wild wood and she was assumed by all at the time of being at least 18 yrs old as she had been a regular all summer hanging out at wild wood. The sailor had sex with her got caught and was drummed out of the navy and went to Prison as the girl was actually 14 yrs old. Even tho there was plenty of evidence that she had successfully passed her self off as 18 and had fooled every one the Judge ruled that ignorance was no excuse with the law. Can not speak for your friend but felt this story might give you a idea of how bad it can be.
