Should the Government suspend Council Tax whilst we are in Recession?

They should change it completely. It was the only thing that Thatcher got right, ( except for the figures ). It shouldn’t be based on the house you live in, but on the number of people of working age who live there and have an income. As it stands today, two people living in a house, pay the same as 12 people living in one house. 12 people use more of the facilities, eg roads, pavements, parks, rubbish removal, sewage, etc. Also council tenants for some reason pay less, living in a camparable house to a private owner. I’m sure that if a council sat down and looked at how much they need to raise, or look at what they are using now, they could easily come up with an individuals contribution to the council tax, and the ones who use the facilities the most, pay the most. obviously they can make adjustments for low income brackets, but they do that now, so what’s the difference. It would be a much fairer system.

it would be a good idea but some councils have lost money by putting it in a bank that has gone bankrupt and they cant afford to pay the wages of certain n h s staff so there is no chance of them allowing us to get away without pay councill tax

Sure would. Wouldn’t we all love a break from Council Tax. But this tax pays the wages of people who take away our rubbish, who fix the potholes (or some of them), and maintain the public areas.
