Should the government or City of Perth be providing free courses for people living on the streets?
AJ: Well, what are they going to do? I mean if they’re going to turn around, before they can help people learn to read and write, they’ve got to give them somewhere to live. Without anywhere to live, they’re not going to learn to do anything at all. Because it’s like, you’ve got no where to live, you’re not going to read and write. What’s the point? You’re on the streets . . . if they turn around and said . . . you’ve got to think of the point of view where if they’re going to help you, what do they want in return? If they turn around and say, ‘we’ll give you a house and send you to school’ and everything like that there, yeah fine. I’d do it. I’d jump at it. But where are you going to find the person that’s going to say that, help you get a job, show you how to pay all your bills and shit like that and . . . there’s nothing.
