Should the game of football (soccer) introduce video review decisions by a 3rd off the field referee?
I tend to side with FIFA on this issue. Video Tech would only kill the game of football. The human element will be gone forever. Look at the facts here. Football is the most popular sport in the world. Reason being, it’s the only sport which, from the first min to the final whistle, is non-stop total excitement and commercial free for 45 mins. No other game can give you that. Games like Basketball, American football and tennis needs commercial breaks every few mins, killing the excitement. With the video introduction, the game will be stopped every few mins. The players will ask for video evidence for every offsides, handballs and fouls. Football is a popular sport because of it’s flaws. Can you imagine a perfect game of football? What else is there to talk about after a game at the coffeeshop?
