Should the dogma of any one religion have any influence over the laws regarding Civil Union.?

Well Civil Union has nothing to do with religion, what religion is having a problem with is Marriage. I don’t think that anyone’s relgion should have influence over Marriage laws. Individual churches dont have to perform any marriage ceremony that they are opposed to. So marriage should not be governed by that. Civil marraige ceremonies, like those with a Justice of the Peace should be open to all consenting adults of age reguardless of other factors. No individual religious pricipal should take precedence over the rights of citizens of a free nation.
