Any country that uses the death penalty cannot call itself civilised. It is the same as murder: most murders have mitigating cirumstances, and the mitigating circumstances here are that the person being murdered has himself committed appalling crimes. But does that give us the right to kill them? My heart says some people are so evil that they deserve to die, BUT it’s not up to me or any other human being to judge whether someone should live or die. That’s up to nature or God if you believe in one. Life without parole is a far bigger deterrent, the death penalty is an easy way out for evil people who couldn’t care less about dying. Countries with the death penalty do not have lower murder rates than countries without it. And the worst thing of all is, innocent people are sentenced to death.
