Should the British Government be more pro-active in supporting the State Religion, i.e. Anglican Christianity?

Be careful here! It is the state religion in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The state religion in Scotland is Presbyterianism. There is a lot of differences between Anglicanism and Presbyterianism but, in theory they are both opposed to the teachings of the Roman Catholic church. With the exception of the Anglo-Catholic wing of the Anglican church (which should detach itself and go to Rome anyway), they share a belief in the priesthood of ALL believers and they are opposed to transubstantiation and Mary worship. Whilst I firmly believe in the right of British subjects to be Roman Catholics and the right of them to worship in Roman Catholic churches, it is the preservation of our national identity as a PROTESTANT nation and in particular, the preservation of the Act of Settlement and the preservation of the Coronation Oath, that should be the British Government’s concern.
