Should the British Government be charged for criminal war crimes?
They should be held accountable for, yet again, misleading the British Public and the Military. What started out as an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) operation – the operative words being SECURITY ASSISTANCE – to provide training for the restructured Afghan Army to take on the Taliban and allow a Government to be formed was, in 2006, suddenly turned by New Labour into a “war on drugs” and head on conflict with the Taliban. We constantly hear complaints from New Labour regarding the lack of commitment by other Nato members – those members are sticking to the original ISAF brief, hence their low casualty figures and refusal to get drawn into a full scale conflict. The excuse of “it keeps the streets of the UK safe” to justify 206 fatalities in HM Forces since 2006 is wearing extremely thin. John Reid made the statement that “UK forces could be out of Afghanistan by 2009 without another shot being fired” back in 2005 – had this Government stuck to the ISAF brief they proba
Blair should be charged for War crimes simply because he led us into this war. However, i don’t think Brown should be merely because our troops are already in there and although i hate hearing about British soldiers dying, Afghanistan would be a LOT worse place if our troops pulled out. Also if they pulled out, all of those soldiers that have died already would have been fighting for nothing!
