Should the 13-0 Utah Utes get a shot at the National title?
I will second haimtime’s answer that this mythical national championship that teams play for now is just that, mythical. While I do not want to see bowl games eliminated completely as they provide money for local communities and the participating schools, an official playoff is needed. It could even blend in with the bowl games, rotating which bowl games are part of the playoff, just as the BCS title game is rotated between venues. With that said, under the current structure, I do think Utah should be the 2008 champion. Because of the biased polls, the Utes were underestimated throughout the regular season. As they proved in the Sugar Bowl, they are a top-notch team who recorded a perfect season and should be rewarded for that.
