Should testing be approved for human genetic engineering?
If there are ethical issues with animal testing, there would be even bigger ethical issues with human testing. In terms of human cloning, this is really taking a potential life and doing a barbaric experiment on it. It’s obvious there are serious diseases affecting many innocent people. I agree there should be research and trials done to combat them. Those trials may be risky enough, but that is enough of a risk to be necessary when scientists feel they are close to a treatment or cure. There is also a valid argument to be made that we are each created as unique individuals. Actually it is our uniqueness that has allowed our species to survive this long in our history. Human beings are the most precious commodity on earth. To knowingly run risks on some for the benefit of others is, well, inhuman. Further, it is sick and wrong to even consider sacrificing one for the benefit of many. Isn’t that God’s job and hasn’t he already done it?
