Should taxes be increased in the United States to help pay for enormous budget deficits?

Not taxes but tariffs…this “free trade” nonsense is the reason why there are no high value jobs in our country and why our standards of living has fallen to third world levels. You cannot have “free trade” where the average worker makes less than one tenth of what you earn. If you restore this countries economic base to what it once was you will have all the revenue you need and actually be able to lower taxes on everyone – but to do that you have to make it where business and industry has to establish means of production on our soil and to use the skilled labor we have an abundance of. Tariffs and import duties – not taxes…step one in returning this nation to greatness again.

Absolutely Not! The more that taxes are increased is less money that businesses will have to hire more employees. If you decrease taxes that will keep more money in the hands of companies who then can hire more people who pay taxes, thus the tax rolls will increase. The more people working the more tax revenue increases. When taxes are increased, it means less money in the pockets of consumers, who will not be able to buy new products. If taxes are decreased then the consumer will have more money to go out and buy a new TV, computer, household goods etc. Some people just do not understand how that works.
