Should students enter their SSN where it says “Social Security Number” on the forms?

No. While we are updating all our forms to refer to “University ID”, there are still forms in use that say “Social Security Number” or “SSN.” Students should usually enter their UID rather than their SSN. There is one situation where students should not enter their UID: instructors who would like to post grades publicly as they have in the past should assign students a random number (known only to the student and the instructor) at the beginning of the semester and use that random number as an identifier. (If you are going to request Opscan’s Grade Book results, than you must use UIDs as the identifier.
