To be on the safe side, students should always lock their room doors, and make appropriate arrangements to protect valuables. A student who has something lost or stolen, should notify his/her Student Life Coordinator and the University Police Department. MSU makes a reasonable effort to help protect private property but cannot be responsible for its loss, theft, or damage. Precautions students can take are engraving property so it can be identified if stolen, and maintaining an accurate record of serial numbers for equipment such as computers, televisions, DVD players, video games, etc.
