Should Stronger punishment be introduce into the Criminal Code?
No. Cases are individual. There are certain people who do deserve more time and should have a harch punishment, and others don’t deserve harsh punishments. The courts and parole board do a great job of keeping those who need to stay in jail, in jail. There was a boy who was abused and abused by his father in, I believe Edmonon, anyways he was beaten basically daily his whole life, so one day when he was 16 he shot his father while he was sleping. He was charged with first degree muder, and tried as an adult, so he recieved a life sentence with no chance at parole for 25 years, because the criminal code puts that as the minimum. There was also the case of Robert Latimer who killed his young very disabled daughter in order to stop her suffering. He was charged with second degree murder with his parole eligibilty date set at 10 years because of the minimums in the criminal code. Neither of these people will kill again, nor will they likely commit another crime. They do not deserve to get
