Should sports teams wear white uniforms or their colors when they play at home?
The intent of wearing white at home is to allow the home fans to see all the different colored jerseys from around the league. The NHL had this philosophy for many years, but they discovered that the top selling jerseys were the dark jerseys and that they could sell even more jerseys by making the dark jerseys home and allowing teams an “alternate” dark jersey. I personally prefer the way the NHL used to do it. When the away team is always wearing white jerseys it starts to feel as though your team is playing the same team over and over.
