Should soldiers be allowed to wear their uniforms in public?

My husband is in the Armed Forces and he wears his uniform if he’s just got back from work and we need to pop to the shops or whatever, the only place he can’t wear his uniform is on public transport or in public houses. I think this is acceptable, if my husband was told he couldn’t wear his uniform out of work then it’s like telling him he should be ashamed of his job, and he’s not. I personally think that the law needs to be harsher on these idiots (yes I know the kind you mean) who start trouble with them for no reason other than the fact that are squaddies.
