No. Seniors can get swine flu, but not at rates as high as younger people. Seniors also are more vulnerable physically, meaning any illness should be avoided, if possible. What about seasonal flu, a virus for which seniors are most at risk? Seasonal flu is on its way and the CDC continues to recommend that all seniors get a seasonal flu shot. Should seniors be vaccinated for swine flu? Yes, especially those with at-risk conditions. However, the vaccine won’t be available until October, and it will go first to the identified risk groups.
