Should schools have security cameras installed in classrooms?

Very good question. It seem to me that perhaps the people with the most to fear from the cameras are teacher who already feel like the system is constantly breathing down their necks. On the other hand, behavior at some schools has gotten so out of hand that the cameras may actually work to encourage more academic participation and less intimidating behavior. Ultimately, I think they are going to be installed in every classroom in America before long. It should be interesting to see what kind of an impact they really have. OK I have thought about it a bit more. I think cameras in school are a terrible idea. I am certain that they would dissuade bad behavior and probably prevent some kids and even teachers from being harmed. However, I think that we are doing our society a tremendous disservice by training kids to think that no matter where you go and what you do, someone will be there looking out for you. People in America are already overly-dependent on government to protect them from
