Should schools allow the listening of MP3s during reading period?

No because that is the opposite of reading, hence listening and any school should reserve the right to temporarily deny students the use of extra periphery devices because it detracts from the mission of the school to ensure that students are learning and not goofing off during unspecified school time. I would be very upset if I heard that my kid was goofing off rather than reading, hence learning. I would ground my child if I found out and take away their listening device as a personal form of discipline. School isn’t a place to goof around when you are in a class or a structured learning period.
